Conclusion – Building Better Leaders

Hopefully you’ve read through the six blogs that contain our Leadership Pathways. Here they are once again:

Hopefully, you’ve learned more about leadership than about fishing! Kayak and fishing is my love language, and it continues to provide a world of metaphors for me. I hope that you have a passion that helps you in the same way. The big picture is this: First we grow in our leadership skills as a doer…and then we elevate our leadership by growing as a developer of others.

  • Jesus ministered to people…and then he developed His disciples for ministry.
  • Moses did too much solo ministry…and then developed leadership layers just before burnout.
  • Paul preached the Gospel…and then led ministry teams that relied on leadership multiplication.
  • The Jerusalem elders safe-guarded their pastoral role…by appointing deacons to hands-on ministry.

Building Better Leaders is God’s pathway to success. He hasn’t created us to lead alone, carrying burdens we aren’t meant to carry by ourselves. This relies on a few internal and external requirements:

  • The Biblical conviction that God desires and requires team leadership and development.
  • The personal heart to want to see others succeed in ministry.
  • The time commitment to help one person at a time find meaningful ministry involvement.
  • The determination and planning to recruit and meet together as mentorship pairs and/or teams.
